I have a 02 ford focus zx3 automatic transmission. There is a strange vibration coming from the front end when I am going 50+ mph. It happens most when I am accelerating and when I take my foot off the gas it greatly reduces, though does not go completely away. Sometime it will happen at 35 and feels like I'm driving on rumble strips.
It does shift hard sometimes at lower speeds. However I have never felt slippage, slow down, grinding, and it does go into OD just fine.

I would start by checking for a bad motor mount or trans mount. They are mounted in rubber. If the rubber wears out, you may be feeling the metal to metal contact from the engine to the frame. That can cause a vibration. If all looks good there, check to see if there are any steering component that are loose.

Let me know what you find. Also, let me know if you need to know the trick for checking for bad mounts.
