Electrical problem
2002 Ford Focus 4 cylinder Front Wheel Drive Automatic 206,000 miles

My 2002 Focus has a rear (external) brake light problem. When ignition is on, and the car is in any gear except park both brake lights remain on. They do not go off if you hit the brakes, but do go off if you put the car into the park position or turn the ignition off. The brake light switch has been replaced, wiring has been checked by a mechanic, but not a Ford repair service (he had the vehicle a full day). His opinion is that it may be the Body Control Module needs to be reset.
Can someone provide some insight before I take it Ford service. It is a great car in extremely good condition.
Thanks.
