Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Ford Focus Two Wheel Drive Manual 114000 miles

Just bought car over month ago. Changed oil first thing.
Oil light still comes on. Suddenly started knocking very badly. Mechanic friend said oil pump out, engine not getting oil.
My questions are how much should it cost to have oil pump changed and is it too late once rod is knocking badly?

I've lost my home. I need my car badly to keep looking for work. Please let me know as soon as is possible. If I survive long enough to find work I will be thrilled to donate more to you. I only pray you can still help me.

Thank you so very much.

HI
I would say eng damage is irreversable, these knocking noises are caused by steel and alum partsoverheating from lack of lubrication and restoreing oil pressure although may quiet it down some will not fix the prob. Your best way out is a used eng and the help of your mech friend. Anything else will be very expensive. SORRY I don, t have better news.

Billy Mac,

Thank you so very much for your response! Oh the tears! I can't win for losing - literally, one thing after the other.
Leaving my work to care for my mother, after 4 1/2 years and her passing, I couldn't find enough work in time to save my home.
Though my daughter begged and begged me to come here to her home, she has been horrible to me ever since - in that I haven't found work soon enough to suit her.
Now I have no transportation. Yesterday, although I came here with my cats she had them killed in a most brutal way. I don't believe I can survive this pain and guilt.
The small donation is all that I have and hope it helps a bit.

Thank you and I am.
Sincerely yours.

Ty for your donation and all is appriciated but none is required. I am sorry you are haveing so much bad luck. And things will get better, and your daughter should be ashamed of her self. About the car. Are you sure the thing has a rod knocking or is it just noisy from no oil.? And how long was it drove while it was knocking?

You see the difference would be a set of rod bearings and oil pump or a whole crank shaft.

Will your mechanic friend help you? Billymac

Wow, you sound like a kind person Billy. I have felt for months like I am in Hades.
I hope you got the tiny donation. When I had entered my cc information, then a dialog came up saying the page was going to a nonsecure site and did I want to continue.
Well I don't want what small dollars I have left going across a non secure site so I said no. Let me know maybe whether you got the little money.

You are deeply appreciated. Once upon a time, my daugher was my best friend but I have been betrayed. And the most horriffic part of what she did to my cats is their not knowing what they did for me to abandon and betray them. They have been everything to me when I had/have no one else. I am still in disbelief that her knowing how much they mean to me that she could do that.

Anyway, as I had said I had just had the oil changed; it doesn't leak oil but it burns it so I don't know how it could be out already. I have made a half dozen trips around town seeking work since it starting the knocking.
I will go now and check the oil level again.

Thank you oh my heart is in shreds.
