2000 Ford Focus Electrical short

2000 Ford Focus 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 150,00 miles

My exterior lights wont work at all. But if we disconnect the headlight switch and hotwire each then evrything will work properly on the car from using the hotwire. Does this mean my headlight switch is bad?

if you have power to the switch then yes the switch is bad
