2006 Ford Fiesta difficulty steering

The car steering stiffened when turning a corner and had to go on other side of road. We took the car to the garage and the steering appeared normal but the engine was not running as normal and the garage had to fit a new main engine wiring loom. Would this faulty wiring loom affected the steering?

a fault on the wiring would not affect power steering function !
