Hi, I have a United Kingdom 1999 Ford Escort Flight 1.6 5-door. Had a bit of an accident this morning, the ornamental bit at the end of a zip on my coat pocket got caught in the seat belt clip. I ripped my coat free but the bit (about the size of a flat pea) is rattling around inside and the end of the belt won't clip in. I've been told by my Ford dealer today that I have no option but to pay a repair bill upwards of £100. Is he right, or is there any way to get the clip open and remove the foreign piece inside? Thanks for your help -- Linda.

Disconnect battery for five minutes to disable airbag system. Remember to have your radio code handy. Unbolt the seatbelt holder from the vehicle, hold upside down and shake the piece out. Rebolt to the car. Hook up the battery . Reinstall radio code. Job done !
