1991 Ford Fiesta windscreen wipers

Hi. The wiper on the driver side does not work. With each "sweep" of the wipers it goes to move a little bit and then stops. the left hand wiper is fine. Im skint at the moment just wondered if you might know what it may be, if it could be a simple problem and how much i may be looking at cost wise? Thanks for any advise you can give.

check the nut securing the wiper blade down is tight .. check the splines under the nut ... check the linkages coming off the motor ...
