1990 Ford Festiva rear hatch

The rear hatch is stuck. Closed it and now it will not open by the rear release.Is there a way to access the latch and open it ?

Take off the inerior panel and you can access the latch from the inside. One of the linkages probably came loose. Or maybe the hatch is locked???
