How do I set the timing gear mark on the camshaft in relation to the crankshaft when replacing the head back onto the block?

i belive there is a mark on the crank, if not turn the motor by hand so that cylinder #1 is at the top dead center position (all the way up) and your timing mark on the cam should line up to the top of the crank teeth
