2000 Ford Falcon tapping noise cominig from engine

My car seems to run ok.... not get hot but has started a tapping noise from the motor. the oil liight has flickered on and off occasionaly as well. Could this be a major problem

Hi there,

You may have an oil pressure problem, get the oil pressure tested wit a mechanical gauge this will give the true pressure reading, if ok, the sender may be faulty and the tick may be a faulty valve lash adjuster, when was the oil last changed, dirty oil can cause lash adjusters to fail due to excessive carbon in the oil.
