1966 Ford Falcon starter relay

while replacing my alternator,one of the wires arced and when I was done the car wouldnt start.it makes a ticking sound when I turn the key.I was wondering if I burned out the starter relay?I thought the battery might have gone dead and tried jumping it but no luck.
