Engine Performance problem
1966 Ford Falcon 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

rebuilt 200 straight 6 motor runs great,but will not charge. holds charge when parked, new alt.,batt.,volt reg. checked continuety from alt .through starter relay yo volt reg. but still wont charge . so right now i have a beautiful electric car.. help any suggestions??? thanks tommy

Check the connection pigtail that goes to the voltage regulator. If you have voltage charging into the regulator then the regulator may be bad. On the regulator there are two screws. Remove the csrews and cap. Watch out that you don't rip the gasket. Clean the contacts on all three posts. Had a 66 mercury comet with a 6 cyl engine. Voltage regulator went bad driving from ny to south carolina. Found that a tip of one contact was burnt and cleaned it then it worked ok. If you want more charging the post on the left as you look at the regulator you can put just a tad more tension on it by tightening the spring by pushing down a little on the connection. If you do this don't put too much more tension as the battery will overcharge. Enclosing a web site that handles wiring up to 1965. The 66 is the same wiring.
