Discussion summary

spitting and sputtering all rpm ranges

The owner of a 1993 Mercury Villager reported sputtering and hesitation during acceleration, sometimes followed by a return of power. The owner described sensor and fuel-pressure checks as satisfactory. In a follow-up, they reported that a mass-airflow sensor fix and cleaning a dirty injector resolved the problem.

Reported outcome: The owner reported that the vehicle ran well with restored power after the mass-airflow sensor fix and injector cleaning.

The exact sensor work was not described. Because both actions were reported, the thread does not establish that either alone resolved all symptoms. No longer-term follow-up was supplied.
