2003 Ford F350 Head Gasket Replace

I have 6.0 diesel engine and need to change a head gasket. Manual says to remove engine to do this but at first glance it looks like it could be done without doing this. Can anyone confirm this one way or the other?

no engine does not have to be removed to replace head gaskets on this vehicle
