My power Steering pump went bad, and I replaced it with a Remanufactured pump, I have had to replace it 4 times total in the last 4 months or 5000 miles. My pump also works the Brakes. Now on the second pump I noticed that the steering was a little goofy. While driving the Steering will act like the Centering would go wierd and the Truck would skip over the center. I need to Stop the Truck and run the wheel From stop to stop, then the Steering is back to normal. Can The geer Box be the cause of Both of my problems, Is there a way to Clean the Gear box to remove Dirt from, Or would I need to get it Rebuilt. Also Is a rebuild Something posible to be done at my Home Garage?
Thank you For any help, The dealer won't give me any help except Drop it off and they will charge.

The gear box could be the cause of this. They are a fairly simple box. Have you tried to use a new ford power steering pump. Those reman pumps seem to have some issues. An at home rebuild on those pumps would be tricky since ford doesn't make them getting individual parts could be hard plus what are you going to be looking at. Before you go and do all that Try getting it flushed and get good clean fluid in it. Alot of the time the fluid became like water and it would not be able to preform

Before I replaced the first pump, I had my system "BG" flushed, Since I have replaced the pump, I have used brand new fluid every Time. I have decided, since I replaced my pump with another rebuilt one, If I have this problem again I am requesting my Money back, and I will go to FORD and buy a brand new one. When I replaced the pump this time, I disconnected my cooler, and Blew some air backwards through the Cooler, Hope that if it may be partialy clogged I may get it out. Again thank you for your assistance.
