in the ford f 250 are the power steering pump and power brake booster connected, ?. If so do they both need to be replaced if one or the other become defective

on some vehicles, they are. mostly diesel engines.

the brake power booster is driven by the power steering pump. normally called Hydroboost.

you would be able to see lines from the pump or steering gear box going to the booster.

and no, normally you would not need to replace both.
