Im changing the trans fluid and filter on my E250 Ford Van. It is the 14 bolt pan not the 20 and is a 5.4L engine. When I droped the pan a yellow top lookinf piece fell out and I would like to know where it goes. Again it is yellow and looks like a top that you would spin. I.E an approx 1in stem on a small barrel with an o-ring on the barrel. What is it and where does it go.

It is a factory plug. They use them to plug the hole where the dipstick tube is inserted. At the assembly plant, the workers just pus the tube in, pushing the insert into the trans pan. You can discard it.
