1997 Ford F250 tranny problems in ford dump truck.

Transmission problem
1997 Ford F250 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic unkown miles

My fathers owns a ford dump truck 1 ton. He is having problems with the trassimission. somtimes the reverse does not work properly. If 4wheel drive low is engaged it works fine. when you put it back to 2 wheel drive you have to floor it to make it move backwords. We tried lucas oil did the same thing. Have tranny pan off know. oil was mixed with diffrent things he tried so color of oil was black & sooty. The motor is a 460 tranny ? Any help will be appriate.

I would have a transmission shop look at the vehcle .. it is possible the reverse clutches are almost burnt out !
