1997 Ford F250 Shifting out of park and no brake lights

I cannot shift out of park on my truck and I have no brake lights. I have checked all of the fuses, etc. I am not a mechanic so don't know what else to try.

Sounds like the brake light switch is bad. Located on the brake pedal assembly, be sure it is plugged in, if so I would start there. That switch controls brake lights and the Shift-lock
