1997 Ford F250 oil pressure

the gauge reads no oil pressure when we start going but returns to its normal position when the trans. shifts, however there is no loss in power. why?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if it reads normal replace the oil pressure sending unit-If not could be excessive engine bearings clearances or oil pump itself-
