Air Conditioning problem
1993 Ford F250 V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual

Last year I converted my ac from R12 to 134. Worked fine. I have a minor leak but it takes a year to discharge. A year later I recharged the system and my low psi side is about 25-30psi and the high is 350+. And the relief on the compressor pops off occasionally. The compressor keeps cycling on and off about every 10-15 seconds and no cool air. It acts like the flow is clogged somewhere. Any ideas? I live in vegas and it is brutally hot!
Thanks
Mike

350 is too high and 25 is too low! Sounds like there is a blockage, it usually turns out to be the reciever drier, and inside it is a deicant bag, when it breaks, the bag colapses and you end up with the pressures you now have. Did you replace the orifice tube when you converter over?

I think the orifice tube is diiferent for R134a than R12, I would replace both. Then vac for several hours.

I did not replace the orifice tube when I converted and it worked fine. That was a year ago. I was told it was not necessary but then again my recources are not that experienced with ac systems. Makes sense beig that I have a flow problem. You think I should? Thanks

I would change both. The orifice tube and the reciever drier, and vacuum for at least 2 hours. Once you disconnect the system, you can blow thru it to see if the clog is gone. Look out for the oil! Measure what you loose and replace it with pag oil.
