1988 Ford F250 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Does the engine have to be pulled in order to replace a very rusty oil pan?

nope! remove cooling fan and shroud. from there loosen engine mounts and put a cherry picker on engine and secure it. then remove mounts and lift up engine enough to pull out pan.
