Hi all:

My 2002 F150, 4.6L engine has been diagnosed with rusted exhaust manifold bolts. The truck has 41,000 miles. Two garages that I have visited do not want to touch it and the Ford dealership has provided an estimate of between $1,800 - $4,000. To me, this seems to be a design flaw in the bolts and a very costly repair for so little mileage.

Any suggestions on action I can take or am I stuck with a MAJOR repair bill?

Thanks ! ?

As far as a Design flaw, you would have to take that up with a Zone Rep ( might help)
As far as the charges, not totally unusual. It will depend on the bolts that are broken, if easy-out won't work, then the Head/s may have to come off.
There will be a lot of labor.
You may want to call Local Reputable shops & see if they may be able to help
