I have a 97 f150 with 47000 miles 4x4 8 cyl. and I can not get the brake light to go off. I was using the parking brake while I was removing the tires and than working on adjusting the rear brake pads using the adjustment wheel. When I finished the adjustment the light will not go out. it appears to drive ok . I just think it could be the switch for the brake is not showing it is released.

Could be the cables ar sticking, try to pull up on the parking brake pedal, if the light goes out, drive to a slight hill go to the top of the hill put the truck in neutral, does it roll easily? This is to make sure the parking brake is not stuck on! As a matter of course with brakes it's use it or lose it!
