Engine may be bad

Ford f-150 1995 124,000 miles small v8 engine. When it is cranked has loud knocking noise white smoke water come from tail pipe what is your opinionI love my truck would like to know is it worth fixing it is hard for a girl to find a honest mechanic that would have my best interest in mind. I thank you in advance for any and all help you can give me. Thank you in advance :)

Is it running with white smoke? What color is the water? Put your finger in it and see if it is sticky. Take the cap off the radiator when it is cold. Any discoloration? It should be green. If you can pull the spark plugs one at a time and see if there is any whitish color or ash on the tip. If you can get a block test or radiator pressure test get it. If a Ford enging is rapping while trying to start it, it aint good!
