Engine bogs at wide open throttle from stop

2000 Ford Focus 104,000 2.0L Zetec
Whenever I accelerate hard from a dead stop, the engine acts like it's gasping for breath. The car just sort of lunges but doesn't go anywhere. The tach bounces from idle to about 1500. I have an aftermarket intake with a reoilable filter. Could this be the cause? I've found a new dry flow filter and am willing to try it. Is my MAFS dying? The fuel pump has been replaced twice. I've had this problem for quite some time and no one has been able to give me a good answer. Thanks in advance.

Try the MAF and TPS

The TPS signal is used by the PCM to enrich the fuel mixture during acceleration, and to retard and advance ignition timing. The MAF is used by the PCM to measure engine load. These sensors work hand in hand. A leak past the MAF will not be measured therefore the PCM will not adjust fuel demand accordingly.Further a bad signal from the TPS will at times cause the MAF to react.

It operates just like the MAP sensor and in a Carb system its the main metering/power valve circuits.

BTW you might want to check the EGR for opening too soon when not wanted and also it drives the O2 sensor crazy is to how to adjust the A/F mix.

HTH, Good LUck!

rasmataz made some excellent points, why has it had 2 fuel pumps? If im not mistaken that is a returnless fuel system, meaning the PCM varies voltage to the pump according to throttle and load.Need to have a fuel pressure gauge on it to see if it varies with throttle and load. But that doesnt mean the PCM is bad like rasmataz said the MAF and TPS have to do with it as well. Not trying to confuse you, just want all bases covered

I've already replaced the TPS once. The fuel pump was replaced once for being faulty and another time due to a factory recall. I'm a little confused as to what you guys are suggesting. There was a lot thrown out in those two posts. Thanks.
