Truck stalled. Car towed to dealer. Repair diagnosed as spark plug popped out. Tune up was done at 80,000 miles. Now, 120,000 miles when this happened.

Is this type of incident possible?

Hi there the only way a plug can come out is if the plug was not tight or the thread has been damaged, you will have to get the thread re coiled, but as this involved drilling out part of the old thread, the head should be removed so as to not have metal entering the cylinder.
