Sometimes when I try to crank my truck, it makes a grinding noise (it sounds like I had already cranked it and tried to crank it again). Could this be the starter or flywheel. How can I tell if it is the flywheel? If it is the flywheel, how much should it cost to have it replaced (approximately)?

Hi
Yes this could be the starter and the flywheel.
Remove the starter. The hole where the starter mounts to the trans, you can see the flywheel. You will have to take a large screwdriver and rotate the eng and look at the teeth on the flywheel look for damaged teeth if none replace starter.

If you have to have the flywheel replaced if it is a 4 wheel drive about a 1000 dollars 2 wheel drive about 450 dollars. Hope this helps please vote for me ty billymac
