My battery low warning comes on in the radio.I replaced the battery as it was the oem battery almost 4 years old and in arizona we usually are lucky to get 2 years. Now the radio looses memory when the vehicle is off and ocassionally the low battery warning shows in the radio. The alternator and battery test fine. Is this a defect inside the radio, all fuse are good

OK lets have the stereo do a self test to determine what it is seeing ok. You will first need to to do a speaker walk around test so set the volume so it is not to high first ok. Then turn the key to acc. Mode so the stereo is on and set it on am or fm ok. At the same time press the preset buttons 3 and 6. Now the stereo will put sound to each speaker one at a time and display the speaker too ok. During this test if you have a dvd system the dvd buttons will not function ok. Now we can do the self test on the stereo.
Now press button 1 this will do a self pass or self fail test. It will flash self test untill it has completed the test. Now it will either display self pass or self fail. If it says self fail then use the tune up button to display the faults right down any you find.
Now you will press button 2 this will allow you to view and clear codes ok. If no codes are found it will display no codes ok. So now use your tune up button to display the codes and then press the eject button to clear the codes.
Now you need to press buttons 3 and 5 or 2 and 4 at the same time and this will re enable the dvd buttons and turn the key off now. Let me know what you find and we will go from there.

That means nothing so we need to move on. It seems from what I can find that the stereo is having a defect.

I have looked and found nothing more for tests on the radio. I would say that the radio is the problem if the charging system it working properly. I guess it is up to ford from here as much as I hate to say that.

Thanks for the testing instructions. I got B1342 and B2406
My radio stopped working last week and then came back on. Now my Brake and ABS light was coming on erratically right before the battery died completely. I replaced the battery and tested the alternator. After replacing the battery I tested the alternater and it failed per tested at NAPA. Gonna check out the codes on the WWW.
