2004 Ford F150 noises from a old start

Whenever I start my truck up, only from a cold start, the engine seems to rev up, more than it usually should, only for a second and then it comes back down. I know that the engine will generally rev up, but his noise is louder and a bit longer than it ever was before. And again, it only happens from a cold start.

WHen this happens, does the engine go back to normal and run properly? Also, has the check engine light ever come on?
