2004 Ford F150 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My truck had been running fine, and while driving the ABS and BRAKE light came on and Radio Turned off, and battery gauge was all the way to the negative and lights were dem, but the power was fine while driving and then when we turned it off, it wouldn't come back on, we changed the battery and it turned on, but lights are still a little dem and battery gauge was at half, which is were it was originally, but we are wondering if it is just the battery or if it could be the alternator...can someone please help us?

Get the alternator load tested if okay -double check all connections at the battery and alternator if okay-Have the computer controlled circuit of the alternator field generation checked out-
