2003 Ford Taurus 61500 miles. Noticed that the car would lag when i gave it gas. Rpm would go down to 500 and up to 1000, but pretty much bounces back and forth from 500 to 700 rpm. Check Engine light started blinking and then after a few minutes stayed on. Check it with OBD II scan had no codes. Seems to throttle low and then it cathces up and seems fine (catch up) then it feels like its struggling again especialy when i accelerate.

This one sounds like the idle air controller. Most times they don't set a code! The other culprit is the Mass airflow sensor, That dosent usually set a code either and you get kinda the same problem. Try unplugging the MAF with the car off, then start it. Does anything change? then do the same with the IAC.
