2003 Ford F150 Transmission Cooler

I hit a deer and need to replace the transmission cooler. Can the nuts on supply and return lines to cooler be slid back and a temporary hose be connected until new cooler arrives?

It should be OK if no leak just no heavy pulling or pushing
in another word do not allow the tranny to overheat
