Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Ford F150 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 140k miles

I have a 2002 f150 with roughly 140k miles on it. I have kept up with all required maintenance and the truck has been very reliable to date. Over the last few weeks (winter). The throttle will stick open if it is particularly cold outside. The idle speed will stay up around 2000rpm. The problem can be temprorarily corretcted by manually exercising the throttle linkage. The problem seems to be very temerature (cold) dependant. Any ideas?

If it's not the throttle cable, have you tried cleaning the inside of the throttle body? I had the same problem with my Ford van the other day at -2 below And a few shots of carb cleaner cleared it up.
