My truck runs and shifts flawlessly. However, the button on the shift knob to turn your overdrive OFF, does not work. When you press it, it does NOT keep the truck from going into overdrive. In other words, its not just a bad bulb in the shift know. I could not find any broken wires or bad connections under the truck. What would the next step be.

It could be the switch itself. Have you checked it?

If it is on the shifter, you have two choices. Remove the steering column cover and access where it plugs in, or try to remove the switch at the end of the shifter without breaking it. There are two wires inside. One supplies power, the other sends it to the trans. Basically nothing more than a toggle switch.

The steeing wheel comes off first, then you need to work your way down. Make sure if you have an air bag that you disconnect the battery long in advance so you don't deploy it by accident.
