1. Make and Model: 2002 ford f150
2. Current odometer reading 80000
3. Automatic Transmission
4. Strange sounds or smells (if any) none
5. Fluid leaks (if any) none

The truck starts normally but when you go to shift gears it will not shift. I tryed to shift it with the truck off and it still wont shift. I havent had a problem with the transmission ever and the fluid are up to part. I checked the fuses and they seem good. Do you know what the problem could be. And if so do you know how to check if that is the problem.

Are the brake lights working when the brake is pushed?

Also try rocking it while shifting it, does that work? Post back your results.

If your brake lights are working, the problem (if not a fuse) is the brake shift interlock. It is a small solenoid located at the base of the steering column on top. You can get it out of park with the vehicle off. When turning the key, there is a position right before the instruments turn on. At that position, you can shift to neutral and start the vehicle.
The other common cause is parking on an incline or on a bump that holds the parking prawl so tight, you think your gonna brake something in order to shift it.
