2002 Ford F150 Oil Pressure

Was pulling our camper. Oil pressure gauge suddenly bottomed out and light came on. Pulled off exit and checked oil and it was low. Put oil in it and gauge was still acting funny so pulled off again. Vehicle died when I stopped. Let it cool down, unhooked camper, checked oil and it was fine, pressure came back up and is running fine. truck has pulled camper before and no problems.

Do you hear any type of knocking noise coming from the engine if not check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if normal replace the oil pressure switch abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearings
