Hi

Recently I noticed high RPM upon startup. It is 40 - 50 degrees here now. And also a slight hesitation upon acceleration. I pulled the codes and got P0174. I got some MAF cleaner and sprayed it really good.

The code went away. The hesitation went away. Now I am left with the high upon startup.

Please help.

Hi hryderiii,

Thank you for the donation.

All modern engines are desigend to run at a higher rpm when the coolant temperature is low so it is normal for the rpm to be higher during cold start. It can range from 1200 to 2000 rpm depending on the temperature and would drop after a short while.

The cleaning of the MAF could have increased the rpm at cold start as it is reading more accurately than it previously was.

What is the cold start rpm now? If it is less than 2000 rpm, then you have nothing to worry about, unless it fails to drop after a short while.

Hi

I think I'm ok. The last cold start at 48 degrees was 2200 rpm for a few 3 to 4 seconds.

Thank you
