2002 Ford F-150 Engine Light EGR valve

My check engine light came on and the code was saying it was the EGR valve. Had it cleaned and the light came back on. Just had it replaced and it came on again. I have heard several people say that they they just keep replacing parts and the light still stays on. Why? I don't want to put a fortune in parts that don't fix the problem. What would be the best way to proceed?

90 % what we found at fault was the DPFE and or it hoses
check it out
