My guages spike almost everytime I start the engine. My check engine light is on. Do they have something to do with each other?

They could. What I need you to do is have the computer scanned. If the check engine light is on, there should be a code stored in the computer.

Most parts stores will scan it for free. Have it done and let me know what you find.
