2000 Ford F150 crazy

The other day i hit passing gear and it over 5000 rpm and my headlights dimmed.Does the computer shut down the altenator or something else?cant figure it out

Did it only happen once? Also, the computer doesn't shut it down. THere is a voltage regulator in the alt. It may have done it due to the high RPM's.

It has done it twice. today i had mechanically inclined person look to see if there were any wires getting pinched and grounding out, but nothing was found.

I would start by having the alt tested. Most parts stores will do it in the vehicle at no charge. They can load test it to see if it is failing.
