I recently replaced the positive battery cable assembly because the connection on the starter broke off (apparently this is a common problem with this model).

After getting everything in place and tightened down, I try to start it and nothing happens, no buzzer that the key is in the ignition and the door is open, no interior light, nothing.

I recheck everything, make sure it is firmly in park, try it again and, nothing.

I check the voltage across the terminals, 12v, no problem.

I clean the terminals. Still nothing.

I turn the key in the ON position, and jump the solenoid. It cranks a bit and then it starts. Problem is, it sounds like the starter is still engaged after the engine is running.

I rush around to the drivers seat and shut it off.

I have not tried anything else since and am looking for someone to point me in the right direction.

Have you checked the ground on the engine block to make sure it is clean and tight? Are you getting power to the starter relay?
