power steering not working

Car was fine; five minutes after a short stop I started car and could hardly turn steering wheel. Checked power steering fluid it was full. Drove home without power steering. Suggestions please. Thanks in advance. Bob

Yes, I just checked the belt and it is tight and functioning

Based on how everything happened, I have to believe the pump went out. If you open the pump and start the engine, can you see the fluid moving?

I have no idea how to open the pump to see if the fluid is moving; Did you mean the reservoir?? Thanks, Bob

I just went and checked the revervoir and the fluid is not moving when engine is running

Yes, that is what I ment. If nothing is moving, I would say the pump is bad.

Thank you,I had car towed to Hall's automotive repair in Central Point, Or. and they are going to replace the pump for abut $250 as compared to Schultz's who estimated $350 to $400. Thanks, Bob

Yuo were correct, it was the pump; It was changed and so was the belt. The total price was $256.00. Thanks for your assistance. Bob
