I have a 97 f150 with a 4.2L 6cyl. Upon cranking all guages and warning lights work fine. After 2 min. the temp guage goes to H (but is not overheating) the oil pressure goes to H (not low on oil) the battery guage goes to zero (new battery and alt.) fuel guage and speedometer work fine as do the warning lights. The truck runs perfect with this exception. Any ideas?

It sounds like you have a short in the instrument cluster. I would unplug the temp sender and see there is any changes on the guage. I would also look at a salvage or wrecking yard to replace it if needed. You can alway take it appart to put your speedo head in it.
