My 97 f-150 has had wires, plugs, coil pack changed, transmission rebuilt, The catalytic converters were cut off with just a pipe put back on and now the transmission is slipping going into 2nd or 3rd gear, so the trans shop says the trans is going to keep doing that if the converters are not on is this true?

convertors will have nothing to do with the vehicle slipping out of gears. exhaust is unaffectful to thedrivetrain.
