Hey,
Other than this problem my truck works fine (minus the front tank fuel filter which will be replaced tomorrow). Most of the time it drives great for a truck with 200K+ miles on it. But every now and then at about 25mph it wont shift for a while. You either havta press the gas pedal till it jerks to the next gear or release the pedal and let it shift into the next gear.(The overdrive "off" light flashes while truck is acting up) But once past that point it runs normal untill you go back below 25mph. Is there a way to fix this problem, that hopefully isnt going to cost me an arm and a leg?
Thanks
-Seth

See my profile. Have you ever performed scheduled maintenece, on tranny as described in many repair manuals.

Like Filter and Fluid change. Its never TOO LATE.

This crap others tell you about doing it way overdue, will tear your rig up, is for the birds. If its gonna tear up, its from Lack Of maintenence.

Send results!

Yes I have done maintenence. Changed all fluids and all filters now including the transmission fluid filter. Also checked all fuses having to do with speed control and shifting signals and replaced the speed sensor. I spend all my free time on the truck this is the only problem I cant seem to fix. ( I do my maintenence off autozone. Com account and my chiltons manual.)

As you know, I am a CJ kinda guy, and only do other mechanicing only through necessity.

I am pretty good with older stuff, and I am sorry if I have been little assistance to you.

I hate to see something go without ANY kind of answer, for a long period of time.

I waited 6 MONTHS for my free answer, it was OK though, I haven't been able to drive for 15 months with my injury. This has been my hobby.

If we keep this at the Top of the list, MAYBE one of these certified fellers will jump in, and give you a more in depth answer.

Have you thrown a code?

A stored code?

The Zone will code you for FREE.

Hey thanks for trying. The Ford dealership told me when It first started that their best guess was the speedometer, but they really had no clue it was just a guess. And I wasnt bout to fork over $700+ to replace something that seemed to be working fine. Ive had it plugged into a code reader at Myers Autotech and they said it had something to do with either the transmition or speed control system (duh) but were no help otherwise. I think it would only register while the problem was occuring. And I also dont know why a bad internal system code would cause the truck to do it off and on. I guess the only thing left to try is get schematics of the intire wireing and go threw and check and replace every sending and recieving unit or solonoid. I wish you a speedy recovery from your injury. And again thanks for your help.
God bless
