First, do you have a seperate switch for the rear cargo light, or is it part of the headlight switch? As far as the interior light and the buzzer, that is switch related. Check around the door frame for a switch. If you can't find one, then it is part of the latch assembly. My guess is that is why the light did what it did and the buzzer sounds.
As far as the AC, it will put a load on the engine, but the engine should idle up to compensate. Check for vacuum leaks first. If all is good with that, then I would recommend having the throttle position sensor (TPS) checked.
