1995 Ford F150 Question

Hello,
I have a 95 ford F 150, It was running fine. Then all of a sudden the speedometer and odometer stopped working, at the same time the transmission (auto) started shifting real hard, almost whiplash hard.
Didn't seem to know to shift.?????
