Can anyone give me any advice? I am not a car person, but I sure wish I was! Truck was running ok, b ut I noticed the oil pressure gauge was low this morning. Checked oil, and itwas fine. (It does need an oil change though). Now the gauge is reading zero. I made it home, which is about 15 miles, it ran fine, but was making a slight knocking. Does that mean the oil pump is out? And if it is, how hard is it to change? I called around and the cheapest is like 350 plus the part, and I literally cannot afford that!

You need to physically check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to confirm that the oil pump is doing its job if so could mean engine bearings

The only way to tell is to check the oil pressure with the gauge. The key here is the slight knocking noise the oil might not be making it up the upper end of the engine due to a defective oil pump or engine bearings
