I have a 1991 F150, and the ignition switch rotates freely after the key is inserted, I replaced it and it still rotates freely without starting the vehicle, I cant figure out what the problem is. I bought a new switch with key and it still rotates freely, I know the problem is inside the steering column but what could it be and what is the part called?

you did not need a new ignition switch, what you needed was a new ignition tumbler.
